Last night I dreamed some stranger murdered my pet snake.
In the middle of the sidewalk, he just smashed her against a pole.
Her blood filled the sidewalk with a puddle one foot deep;
I was screaming ‘murder’ at the top of my lungs.
Then I saw you walk by, in your nonchalant style,
Splashing through blood and pretending you couldn’t see.
My lungs were exploding, I was gagging on my tears,
But you walked by, pretending not to see.
So fuck you, Dusty, murder it don’t get no second chance;
A murderer’s a gonner and a curse.
And yes, I do remember this all happened in a dream,
But you refuse to love me, and that’s worse.
Is it hard to call 911 with a cell phone on your hip?
Is it hard to comfort me when I’m coughing blood and tears?
Did you know that ignoring a crime is considered a crime itself?
Did you know you could go to jail?
Cause it ain’t legal to just splash through a bloody heart, and
