Julien Aklei - Immortals

You rode my daddy like a dark horse through the night,
woke him up to ride him again.
You wrapped him up in your bear skin rug,
took him down low with your hands on his head.
He would have been nothing more than a horse
by the time that you got through with him–
but you know us immortals can never really make love to men.
He left you standing on your beautiful island
with the blue blue flag of the sky.
He sailed away on a raft made of twigs
crouched down low on his muscular thighs.
He slid away on the wide wide sea
with a rainbow flag you made for him–
but you know us immortals can never really make love to men.
Oh my mother, my mother with your wide & vacant eyes…
do you love him? do you love him? it’s such a thin & fuzzy line.
My daddy’s tan and he spreads like the sea,
you grow tall as a stem.
You use your beauty to communicate
but the shape of your body means nothing to him.
You splash around in the river of time;
he fights like a cat to stay dry.
You gotta wonder if he’ll ever think back
to when you slid like a cat down his muscular thighs.
To when you took his head in your hands
and did your best to humble him–
but you know us immortals can never really make love to men.
I am sailing, I am sailing, will you wave a flag for me?
I am coming, I am coming, will you prepare a seat for me?
The crystal child in the back of your mind
is the lovely shadow of me.
You found me stranded on the shore of your beach-
you did your best to comfort me.
You push my raft into the wide wide sea
and you wonder if we’ll meet again–
but you know us immortals can never really make love to men.
